South Africa were bundled for 138 runs in the first innings and following which, they were written off, especially after how good Australia have been in the ongoing World Test Championship cycle. However, as Harsha Bhogle once said, the beauty of Test cricket lies in the second innings as it always gives another opportunity to script a comeback and so did South Africa.

India will play a five-match Test series against England, starting June 20. Ahead of that, the players were involved in an intra-squad match on June 13. The match was held behind closed doors, but as the BCCI confirmed, newly appointed captain Shubman Gill and KL Rahul scored a half-century each.

When the going got tough, Aiden Markram rose to the occasion and put South Africa in a perfect position to lift the World Test Championship final. After being bundled for 138 runs in the first innings, the Proteas pacers scripted a comeback, bundling Australia to 207 runs in the third innings. Chasing 282 runs wasn’t supposed to be easy, but Markram, along with Temba Bavuma, made it look simple as South Africa now need 69 runs more to lift their maiden ICC title in 27 years.

South Africa need 69 runs more to win their maiden ICC title in 27 years. Against Australia in the World Test Championship finale, the Temba Bavuma-led side was on the backfoot after being bundled for 138 runs in the first innings, but the Proteas showed tremendous grit and dedication to turn the tide as they are on the brink of creating history at the iconic Lord’s.

South Africa captain Temba Bavuma played a phenomenal knock in the second innings of the World Test Championship finale against Australia at the iconic Lord’s. Chasing 282 runs, the Proteas lost Ryan Rickelton early and Wiaan Mulder too departed for 27 runs. There was immense pressure on South Africa, but Aiden Markram and Bavuma played some brilliant cricket to bail the team out of trouble.

With the Indian team all set to lock horns with England across five Tests from June 20, the side has been hard at work preparing for the series as they kick off the new World Test Championship cycle. With the series looming on the horizon, there would be many eyes set upon ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah.

Star Australia batter Steve Smith dislocated his finger while fielding on Day 3 of the World Test Championship (WTC) final against South Africa at the iconic Lord’s. The incident happened just before the tea when Smith was stationed in the first slip. Temba Bavuma edged Mitchell Starc, and the ball went straight to Smith, who not only dropped the catch but also hurt his finger and had to leave the field immediately.

England women are all set to host India women for a white-ball series starting on June 28. Both sides will lock horns across five T20Is and three ODI matches. Ahead of the upcoming series, the ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board) came forward and announced the England women’s T20I squad for the upcoming India series.

South Africa and Australia have locked horns across three days of brilliant cricket. Both sides locked horns at the Lord’s Cricket Ground in the World Test Championship 2025 final from June 20. The clash began with Australia coming into bat first and posting a total of 212 runs in the first innings.

All India Football Federation (AIFF) President Kalyan Choubey has announced that India will officially bid to host the 2031 AFC Asian Cup. While the country had previously shown interest in organising the 2027 edition, the hosting rights ultimately went to Saudi Arabia. This time, however, the AIFF has the firm backing of the Indian government and remains optimistic about securing the tournament, expressing confidence in their ability to convince the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). On the field, India has faced a tough run of form recently, registering a draw against Bangladesh and suffering a loss to Hong Kong, China during the AFC Asian Cup 2027 qualifiers. Addressing the setbacks, President Choubey emphasised the hard work being put in behind the scenes and urged fans and stakeholders to look beyond current results, highlighting a long-term, 10-year development plan aimed at transforming Indian football. “You question us what we did in the last two and a half years, but we are planning for 10 years ahead. We should not look at what’s happening immediately. We should focus on the 10-year plan we’re working on. While the country is bidding for the 2036 Olympics, we are also trying for the 2031 AFC Asian Cup. Blaming is the easiest way, it shows the weakness in your character,” Choubey said in the press conference.
